Dolfin Swimwear is excited to announce the sponsorship of its newest pro, para-swimmer Sophia Herzog!
At four feet tall with a three and a half foot wingspan, Sophia originally learned to swim because she couldn’t stand in the depths of most pools. She joined her first swim team at twelve in her hometown of Fairplay, Colorado and experienced immediate success. From there, Sophia become involved in para-swimming in the S6 classification and hasn’t looked back.
She’s represented the US at the 2015 Parapan American games in Toronto, where she won three silvers (200 IM, 100 breaststroke and 4×50 mixed relay) and a bronze in the 50 freestyle. Sophia was also a five time medalist at the 2015 Can Am Para Swimming Championships, winning gold in the 50 butterfly and silvers in the 400 free, 100 free, 100 breaststroke and 50 free.
Going into this summer, Sophia is more focused than ever. “My goal is to make the Rio team and to medal in the 100 breast,” said Sophia. She has a residency at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs where she swims, weight trains and practices yoga with a group of ten other para-swimmers.
The signing with Dolfin adds to the excitement that Rio is just around the corner. Herzog explained, “It’s great that Dolfin recognizes paralympic athletes and has a roster of us on their pro team. It helps people to become more aware of the Paralympics…Plus, I really love their suits!”
Dolfin is proud to support all their Pros as they head to U.S. Paralympic Team Trials in Charlotte, N.C. at the end of June. “Since teaming with Tucker Dupree, Michelle Konkoly and Roy Perkins, we know the Paralympics community truly is a family, and we are so fortunate to have a bright star like Sophia join our Dolfin family,” said Matt Zimmer, VP of Sales & Marketing at Dolfin.
Welcome to the Dolfin Team, Sophia!
