A swimmer since he was a young child in Loudonville, NY, Dyer excelled in the 50, 100, 200, and 500 free at Shaker High School, earning All-American recognition, becoming a two-time state champion, and setting eight school and three sectional records.
His success continued at the University of Notre Dame, where he swam his way to six individual school records – three more than anyone else in the history of Notre Dame swimming. Early in his Notre Dame career, Dyer became the first freshman (and only the second swimmer) to make the NCAA Championships. As a sophomore, he earned bragging rights as the first men’s swimming All-American. His junior and senior years were equally impressive – as a junior, Dyer became the second College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) first team Scholar All-American in program history. And during his record-breaking senior year, he finished fifth in the 200 free at the NCAA Championships and was again recognized as an All-American and a CSCAA first team Scholar All-American.
Dyer graduated from Notre Dame in May 2014 with a degree in management consulting. This summer, he will begin his training at Arizona State University with Bob Bowman – who also coaches Michael Phelps – as he begins his quest to qualify for the 2016 Olympic Trials in Rio.
“I am absolutely thrilled to partner with Dolfin as I continue my career towards Rio. I’ve always thrived when I have people around me who are excited about what I’m doing and what I’m capable of doing next. Dolfin has proven that they are 100% behind me,” Dyer says.
